Edinburgh Stage Management School
Creating Professionals in
Drama, Opera, Musical Theatre,
Events and Dance
All Drama, Opera, Musical Theatre, Dance and Events need to be run and organised by professionals. Stage Management is the art of realising the artistic vision through a sophisticated and highly organised system of pre-planning and design.
Stage Management can range from organising a Theatre in Education project to managing a large scale Arena tour.
We offer our students the highest level of vocational training in order to prepare them for this competitive and rewarding division of the arts.
Our courses are designed to equip the student for immediate entry into professional employment. The creative industries are currently undergoing a period of growth resulting in a shortage of skilled back stage staff.
Our ethos is simple, come and train with us and you will gain the knowledge and experience necessary to succeed in the entertainment industry. The staff at the Edinburgh Stage Management School have been delivering training for over twenty years with near one hundred percent graduate employment.
We offer the whole experience, from rehearsal to performance. Our students follow the production process from initial concept meeting to planning, organising and running the production. Our workshops are hands on, dynamic and exciting. They are led by practicing industry professionals who are experts in their fields.
We offer training in all the disciplines that a modern Stage Manager requires such as use of space, time, finance, and people management.
Complimentary training includes prop making, score reading, stage combat, wardrobe construction, carpentry, lighting, sound and scenic art.
We provide stage management support to a variety of projects and shows in Scotland and the wider UK.
Our industry contacts and partners also form an important resource for learning. Master classes are given by leading practitioners in theatre and events.
Students engage in a range industry placements with our extensive professional network of partners.
A Stage Manager is responsible and organised, efficient and dependable, cool under pressure, a good problem solver, considerate, with a sense of humour.
